The Straight Acting Theatre Company is a collaboration of Writers, Directors, and Actors set up in 2016. We are a producing theatre company that develop artistic work which focuses on the detail of life and the stories we all must tell. We endeavour to engage with artists, professionals, groups and individuals to create a variety of new work with LGBT+ themes and are thrilled to present ‘PROGRESS’ as part of the PROUD Festival.
‘PROGRESS’ is a body of work conceived out of The Straight Acting Theatre Company Play-in-a-Day Festival 2017. As part of the festival, five Writers developed five new LGBT+ inspired scripts; and worked with five Directors and a cast of 17 Actors over 24 hours. The result was a performance at The Kings Arms, Salford on 4th August.
Each play is very different, but all were inspired by the 50th Anniversary of the 1967 Sexual Offences Act which partially decriminalised homosexuality in England and Wales.
