The Big Retreat Wales

Kelly Allen - Mother of 3, based in Cardiff writes:

The Big Retreat Wales takes place from Friday 25th May until Monday 28th May 2018, and there's so much on offer during this period that you won't want the days to end. The festival isn't just aimed at children, you could go with your yoga buddy or your partner, it's completely inclusive of everyone and everyone's personal wellbeing needs. Their focus is on love and self-care, away from the hustle and bustle of normal life...

From a glance at their website, it's clear to see that there's a lot to get involved in, and you can choose just exactly how much you do (or don't do!) so you get the weekend that suits your own mind, body and spirit.
I thought it would be a good idea to list the top ten reasons you should visit this glorious festival, and as I put the list together I realised there's a lot more than ten, but I'll let you check out their site and Facebook page to discover more all by yourself...10 Reasons Why You Need to Attend The Big Retreat in Wales

1. You get to escape from the mad, mad world.

This festival is definitely perfect for those kinda folk who need to step away from their crazy lives and spend some time out in the Welsh countryside. It's a time to reconnect with nature and your inner self, a time for self-care, appreciation and love. I think we could all do with s bit of that, don't you?

2. Almost all activities are included in the ticket price.

I've been to so many different festivals where you pay for your ticket and then you end up shelling out for lots of different things within the event. It can be pretty soul destroying, especially when you have children or just a very limited budget. At The Big Retreat there are over 100 free activities; you can attend cookery demonstrations, yoga classes, all kinds of workshops... The only ones you need to pay extra for include some therapies such as a full body massage, water sports and jewellery making.

3. You can do as much or as little as you like!

Want to have a full packed schedule? You can. Want to relax in the Welsh sunshine? You can. This festival is perfect for you to discover and do things you choose to do, without the pressure of the outside world.

4. There'll be music!

Every festival needs music... It's just so good for the soul! I've spent my morning listening to some of the chosen performers and I have to say, they perfectly match what The Big Retreat is all about. Matthew Frederick stands out for me, I love how soothing his voice is...

There's also the chance to catch Rusty Shackle, Mazaratis, Ofelia and many more amazing acts!

5. Anyone is welcome...

I think some festivals are tailored to specific types of folk or groups, but The Big Retreat is absolutely perfect for anyone. You don't have to be into certain things to enjoy this festival, because you can dip in and out as you please. You'll also receive a warm welcome whether you come as a family unit, with a mate or by yourself!

6. It won't break the bank...

The ticket prices are realy reasonable considering how much is included. The breakdown is as follows:
Weekend tickets
Single weekend ticket without camping - £129 Single weekend ticket with camping - £149 Family weeked ticket (2 adults and 3 children up to age 12) without camping - £249  Family weeked ticket (2 adults and 3 children up to age 12) with camping - £289 Youth weekend ticket (13-17 years old) without camping - £49 Youth weekend ticket (13-17 years old) with camping - £59 Under 12's - free (with or without camping)
Day ticket prices can be found here, but the prices start from £15 for Youth Tickets.
These prices are amazing, especially with all the activities available included in the ticket price. If you purchase a Weekend Ticket there's also the added bonus of...

7. Showers!

Yes, you read that right. If you camp at The Big Retreat you get acess to toilets and showers. Showers! I haven't been to a festival in a long time that allowed camping folk access to showers without extra cost. This is a huge selling point!

8. Foodie Goodness.

Obviously festivals are all about cooking up some tasty food on your little camping stove, but it's also nice to allow yourself a little indulgent treat in the form of food! When it comes to vegan food, there's a treat instore for you (and me!) in the form of Ice Greens, a dairy and gluten free company focused on delicious food! I can't wait to try out their vegan ice cream! There's also Cafe Pura, Fizz and Gin Bar and lots of other yummy food and drink delights.

9. You don't have to camp..

If camping isn't for you, there are many other options. You could just pop along for a day, or you could look at alternative accomodation. There's a lot of choice, including a cottage stay, hostels, B&B's, Hotels or the Pop-Up Hotel which starts from £195 and it means you don't have to lift a finger, just turn up and your Bell Tent will be ready and waiting for you!

10.You'll leave feeling better than when you arrived...

How many festivals can you say that about?! I honestly think The Big Retreat is a safe haven of tranquility and calm, and I know from looking at their website and their plans for the May weekend that anyone going will come home feeling a million times better than when they arrived. This festival's main focus is on your mental and physical health, it's a place to relax and unwind, to try out new things or to simply be in the moment.
If you attend The Big Retreat this year you're sure to leave feeling rejuvenated and ready to face the crazy world you left behind.
