The reviews below are about Hannah Sanders & Ben Savage’s most recent album, “Ink of The Rosy Morning”. The reviews should tempt you to check out their back catalogue on their website and you won’t be disappointed, I’m sure. Wonderful as their recordings are, their special attraction to Toft House regulars will be their fascinating approach to live performance. They play their own songs and a mix of English/American traditional material in a unique style, huddled around a single microphone, which requires each player to be totally in tune with the other. The result is spellbinding.
“This is folk music for everyone – a master class in proficiency, an exercise in individuality and a declaration of love of the folk tradition from both sides of the Atlantic (5 stars)” – Spiral Earth
“Awesome…a supremely divine album” – Americana UK
“Beautiful Songs… haunting dream-like folk music” – Songlines
Phil Cox is no stranger to Toft House but it is a few years since he has played for us. It is great to welcome him back. He has recently being putting together a “trad” folk and Americana style set and was particularly keen to play on this occasion! In Phil’s own words: “Hannah and Ben are two of my favourite musicians. I absolutely adore their music and I am really honoured to be playing support for them”.
