Caulbearers & Krin - Live at NIAMOS, MCR

Following their sell out gig at The Talleyrand in March, Caulbearers are back for another Manchester date in June at the infamous Nia Centre in Hulme for a double bill of live, independent music.

This event is a special collaboration with another MCR-based band, the incredible Krin, who fuse ancient West African drum rhythms and live Techno

*** Limited Tickets Available*** £8 (early bird) / £10 (adv) / +bf,  / £13 OTD.

Krin
are a synthesis of West African drum rhythms, Afro-Cuban influences and cutting edge Hardware Techno. Rhythms passed down through generations and reimagined in the context of modern dance music. Based in Manchester, the band hails from three continents and includes elements of each member’s musical heritage. Combining traditional African instruments with analogue synthesisers and drum machines to create an unforgettable live experience.

Krin began in 2021 and their ability to connect with large audiences led to them playing several festival stages in their first year. Their eye grabbing set up is a spectacle in itself with many of the synthesizers, drum machines and sequencers built by band members Matt and Javi, fusing their love of music and technology. Into this mix we have Bamba and Karim playing traditional instruments including the sabar, djembe, doun doun, kenkeni and sang ban.

Caulbearers

Based on the songs of producer and vocalist Damien Mahoney, Caulbearers' sound has been described as “archaic funk fables and soul migrations… bittersweet songs of the self, soul and society” and “roots music from the rainy city… psychedelic soul with poetic, social observation.”

The ensemble weave together elements of hip-hop, funk, dub, soul and jazz, with plenty of grit and discord in the mix.
Caulbearers’ rhythms, arrangements and soundscapes are hugely inspired by many forms of electronic music but are solely channelled through the use of live instruments.

This music reflects Manchester’s melting pot of culture and unashamedly draws from that rich heritage, but its influences and inspirations extend out globally.
